Abstract

ABSTRACT, Tlogomas Integrated MCK IPAL is one of the IPALs in

Malang. The effluent quality of the WWTP exceeds the quality standard based on

the East Java PERGUB No.72 of 2013. This research uses vetiver (V. Zizaniodes)

and kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) plants because these plants are able to live in a

polluted environment and are able to prevent erosion.

This study aimed to analyze the ability of vetiver (V. Zizaniodes) and

kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) plants to treat waste. The data used is secondary

data because it is constrained by the COVID-19 outbreak. The variables used in

this study were operating time for 7 days, 14 days and 21 days and the types of

plants. The parameters measured were BOD, COD, Ammonia and Phosphate.

The results showed that the effective time of vetiver plants to reduce

BOD and COD waste was 21 days with removal percentages of 92.96% and

52.56%, respectively. As for the levels of Phosphate and Ammonia on the 14th

day with removal percentages of 70.48% and 28.5%. The time kenaf plant was

effective in reducing levels of BOD, COD, ammonia and phosphate on day 21

with removal percentages of 77.41%, 84.51%, 94% and 77.95%, respectively
