Abstract

Abstract, Most of the detergents used use LAS (Linear Alkyl Sulfonate) which is an
anonic surfactant that functions to lower the surface tension of water. Most of the laundry waste
produced is directly discharged into ditches or water bodies without prior treatment, so that it
will have a negative impact on the waters themselves, such as eutrophication of drastically
reduced oxygen levels and cause aquatic biota to degrade and can endanger human health if
consumed or used. directly. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of detention
time and air discharge on BOD and COD parameters in laundry wastewater.
Laundry wastewater used in this study came from one of the laundry businesses in the
city of Malang. The dependent variables used in this study are BOD and COD parameters,
while the independent variables used in this study are variations in operational time of 24 hours,
48 hours, 72 hours and variations in airflow 6 L/minute and 12 L/minute.
The results of the study showed that aeration treatment with an operating time of 72 hours
was able to reduce the pollutant load of BOD and COD with a percentage of 90% and 95%
removal and aeration treatment using a discharge of 12 L/minute was able to reduce the
pollutant parameters BOD and COD, namely 90% for the BOD parameter. and 95% for COD
parameters.
