Abstract

Heavy rain that flushed most of the Jember district which resulted in landslides and erosion of part of the road shoulders on the slopes of Jalan Kemuning Lor, Arjasa District, which is located in the hilly area of Jember Regency which has geographic conditions consisting of cliffs and ravines that are quite steep, making it prone to landslides. This study aims to design gabion as an alternative for strengthening slopes that are prone to landslides. The slope stability calculation used is the BISHOP method, while the software used for the calculation uses Microsoft Excel software.Based on the calculation results, the value of the event factor before the landslide event is 1.4 and the landslide event becomes 1.2, which indicates that the slope has experienced a landslide. The slope possibilities are not 100% soil, allowing control of soil, rock, sand and gravel but more clay. After the retrofit planning is carried out with a slope height of 24 meters and a width of 20 in order to obtain the SF (Safety Factor) value that meets the standards. Gabion obtained SF rolling value of 4,137> 2 (safe), SF shift of 3,054> 1.5 (safe), SF failure of 164,694 kN / m2, with a qa value of 5626,728 kN / m2, so 164,694 kN / m2 <5626,728 kN / m2 ( secure). And the friction force between the gabions is 1825 with a P value of 888.47, so 888.47 KN <1825 KN.
