Abstract

The discipline of workers in using Personal Protective Equipment is one of the determinant fackor to avoid the occurrence of work accidents in workers. This study aims to find out the disciplinary relationship of workers in using Personal Protective Equipment with the incidence of work accidents in the mechanical electrical work of the Joint Lecture Building Construction project of Malang State University. The method used in this study is a descriptive correlational method using a quantitative approach. The population is mechanical electrical workers of the project of building a lecture building with the state university of Malang numbering 30 people with simple random sampling techniques. The data analysis used in this study is Chi Square with significance level α=0.05 (p-Value < 0.05). Data obtained through questionnaires. Based on the results of the study obtained as many as (56.75%) or 13 workers have experienced work accidents while (43.35%) others have never had a work accident. The most common type of work accident experienced by workers was electrocuted (69.2%) while the other 38.2% suffered a slip and fall accident during installation. Chi Square test results were obtained p-Value 0.684 > 0.05. This means that there is no relationship between the discipline of using personal protective equipment and work accidents on the mechanical electrical work of the Joint Lecture Building Construction Project of Universitas Negeri Malang. Pt.  The development of Persero, Tbk, is expected to increase supervision on the use of PPE in accordance with the prevailing SOP.
