Abstract

An intersection is a place where vehicles from various directions meet and change direction. The high level of congestion is one of the causes of high transportation problems in Malang Regency. One of them is at the Saptorenggo intersection (Jalan Bugis - Jalan Saptorenggo - Jalan Raya Bamban), Pakis District, Malang Regency. Congestion that occurs at this unsignalized intersection often causes high queues and delays. For this reason, it is necessary to evaluate the performance of the Saptorenggo intersection and find solutions to improve the level of service at the intersection. Primary data collection includes surveys of traffic volume, to determine traffic flows that occur at intersections, surveys, surveys of queue lengths, geometric surveys of intersections. The survey was carried out for 3 days, namely Monday 29 March 2021, Wednesday 31 March 2021, and Saturday 3 April 2021. While secondary data consisting of data on the population of Malang Regency, and data on the number of vehicle growth in Malang Regency obtained from the Malang Regency BPS website. The analysis method uses the 2014 PKJI. The results of the analysis show that the performance of the existing intersection is the value of the degree of saturation of the intersection of 1.12, the delay value is 26.28 with a service level of D. Efforts to improve the performance of the intersection have been carried out by several alternatives, the most effective alternative is to install APILL using 3 signal phases and get the value the degree of saturation is 0.84, the delay value is 22.729 and the service level at the intersection is C. The results obtained have met the service level requirements for primary local roads. The plan for setting the cycle length of the traffic light signal is 97 seconds in the morning, 78 seconds in the afternoon and 140 seconds in the afternoon.
