Abstract

Roads are the basic and main infrastructure in driving the national and regional economy. Road pavement is part of road planning that must be planned effectively and efficiently. Road pavement must have adequate bearing capacity and durability to carry the load working on it. On the surface layer there is a layer of wear (Asphalt Concrete – Wearing Course/AC-WC), where this layer is a layer that directly withstands the load of the vehicle's wheels. Aggregate as one of the constituents of the road structure has a very important role and is the largest part of the asphalt mixture. Selection of the right aggregate and meet the requirements will greatly determine the success of road construction or maintenance. This study aims to review the use of materials derived from the Waemese quarry so that it can be an alternative quarry to meet the needs of road pavement aggregates. This research was conducted in the construction materials laboratory of the National Institute of Technology Malang with reference to the General Specifications of Highways in 2018. The results of aggregate testing carried out in the laboratory met the specifications with the test results of angularity 5.56, flakiness 24.82% < 25%, impact value 9.59% < 30%, abrasion 21.63% < 30%, average density 2.58 > 2.5, absorption average 0.94% < 3%. From the results of testing the marshall parameters on the asphalt content of the plan, the optimum asphalt content is 5.96%. The results of the analysis of marshall characteristics at the optimum asphalt content value of 5.96% obtained the values ​​of stability, flow, VIM, VMA, MQ, VFA, which met the requirements of the Asphalt Concrete-Wearing Course specifications set by the Public Works Department of Highways 2018.
