Abstract

Flood is a natural disaster caused by high rainfall, so that excessive flow of water overflows the densely populated land. In the end, the impact of flooding can cause harm to the community. Therefore, handling can be done for flood prevention including the provision of infrastructure or normalization of channels in river flows in flood-prone areas. Planning a mud pond (sediment pond) as an alternative for flood prevention in Pasuruan Regency, East Java which will accommodate >5000 m3 of sediment with dimensions of 120m long, 100m wide, and 3m deep. Sediment pond planning is obtained from the calculation of the 20-year return plan flood discharge of 191,647 m3/second. Then a sediment analysis was carried out including the specific gravity value, the average result was 2,377, followed by the calculation of the sedimentation rate using the Meyer-Peter-Muller method, the sediment deposition was 0.364 m3/day, and the Einstein method was 0.2 m3/day.
