Abstract

The condition of congestion that occurs on the national road in the city of Malang is due to the increasing volume of traffic on the national road in the city of Malang. Congestion that occurs causes density also makes some vehicles have to slow down. Vehicle congestion also occurs because there is no change or increase in transportation infrastructure such as roads that have a fixed width while the volume of vehicles continues to increase. Therefore, efforts are needed to overcome these problems by using alternatives that are in accordance with the circumstances of the problem being reviewed. The survey results obtained a total average traffic volume flow on Monday 19 September 2022 of 3065.54 cur/hour, Thursday 22 September 2022 of 2818.10 cur/hour and Saturday 24 September 2022 of 3417.46 cur/hour , with a degree of saturation (DJ) > 0.75, the performance of the road section has E service at the intersection due to signalized intersections. According to the assessment during the field it can be interpreted that the level of service on the Malang City National Road Section does not meet the requirements according to the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 96 of 2015 for primary arterial roads with a service level of at least B, while those who get service level E the average speed in the field is 40.37 km/hour. Efforts to Improve the Performance of these Roads are by moving the national roads further out of the city so that there are no traffic crossings in urban areas.
