Abstract

The currently building façade has changed. 25 years ago, the color of facade was dominated by light colors such as white or cream and only colonial heritage buildings used natural stone and vines likewise used as the element of garden.

The experimental studies have been carried out at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University since the 2000s to investigate this phenomenon by using a reduced model on the roundtable with the dimension of 1.00m x 1.00m x 1.00m. Various façade design were investigated to provide indoor comfort for occupants in the seaside town like Semarang city.

The investigation only emphasized on the two of the 6 Green Building criteria in material and indoor air quality aspects. Observations and measurements on the object were carried out from 6am to 6pm. The profile of air temperature changes both exterior and interior were examined. The results show that inappropriate of wall color, natural stone and greenwall will have a significant impact on increasing indoor temperature on average of 20%.
