Abstract

Currently the glass waste melting process done traditionally with a smelting capacity of 1- 2 kg, placed in a crucible pottery, then using LPG brander, the fire fired directly into glass waste until melted. This melting process spent a long time with a limited capacity.  So far there has been no local crucible which have special characteristics for glass waste smelting. Another problem is the glass waste furnace. SMEs still use three types of furnaces, namely; Brander that "fired" into glass waste, modified metal melting furnace but only for the production of blown glass, modified ceramic furnace but the price is very expensive- it is difficult to reach by SMEs. By using the QFD method, was found 3 composition and form an appropriate with the characteristics of the glass waste smelting. Based on the certificate of test results conducted at Balai Besar Keramik Bandung analyzed by the AHP method, the results obtained in the form of high refractory crucibles which in accordance with the characteristics of the glass waste smelting for SMEs. In addition it also developed model of the furnace for glass waste smelting which can be used for the production of blown glass and glass sheet molding, able to smelting high temperatures up to 1800º C, and the price is not too expensive to be able to reach by SMEs.
