Abstract

The Berau Regency status as a tourist destination causes many tourists to come to visit.

To support the needs of the arriving tourists, developments in the hospitality sector have been carried out

in terms of quality and quantity. The increasing number of hotels in Berau Regency has a negative impact

that cannot be taken lightly, it is the increase of wastewater. This study aims to plan the WWTP

establishment in Kalimarau Hotel, Berau Regency with the anaerobic-aerobic biofilter method.

In this planning, the parameters that were used are BOD, COD, TSS, fat oils, and pH. The data of

wastewater quality were obtained from the hotels that have compatible specifications with the Kalimarau

Hotel, which is a 3-star hotel with 66 rooms. Hotel Kalimarau wastewater discharge was obtained from

the estimated use of clean water per day.

The calculation results of the Kalimarau Hotel WWTP design with aerobic anaerobic biofilter

method is the method was able to process the wastewater with a concentration BOD value of 679 mg/l,

COD of 1581 mg/l, TSS of 936 mg/l and fat oil of 12.72 mg/l with discharge wastewater of 27912L/day.

The dimensions of the WWTP unit are grease trap (1.1m x 1.1m x 1m), equalization tank (4m x 2m x 1.8m),

pre-settlement tank (1.4m x 0.7m x 1.8m), anaerobic biofilter tank (3m x 1.5m x1.8m), aerobic biofilter

basin (2.8m x 1.4m x 1.8m), and final settling basin (1.6m x 0.8m x 1.8m).
