Abstract

ABSTRACT: Paiton District’s a small city with a population of 104,734 people per year 2020. Referring to SNI 3242-2008, a small town with a waste generation of 2.75 l/person/day. One of the solution to this problem’s to reduce waste with the Waste Bank. The purpose of this research is to formulate somestrategy to improve the management of local-scale waste banks, which is the Binor Lestari Waste Bank in Binor Village, Paiton District.

The method in this research used a qualitative descriptive method. By using questionnaires, interviews and observations as instruments. In order to obtain strategic recommendations, a SWOT analysis is used.

From the results of this study, it is known that the amount of waste generated’s 0.42 kg/ person/ day with 2.59 l/org/day, with a composition of the waste is Glass, HDPE Plastic, PET, LDPE, Metal, Paper and Cardboard with a value of 3.92%. , 3.95%, 3.14%, 3.54%, 0.37%, 5.82%, and 2.26%. The results of the analysis of Waste Bank management on internal aspects, namely human resources have commitment, competence, structure, complete infrastructure and patents. On the external aspect, the community wants to play a role, follow and support the waste bank because they want to protect the environment, not only based on economic needs. So the recommendations for development strategies through a SWOT analysis for SO Strategy are collaborating between a government and the independent sector to complete facilities, scheduling waste transportation and providing rewards or prizes for customers so as to improve waste management and manage inorganic waste more optimally. The WO strategy is to replace the manual system with a computerized system so as to facilitate the performance of the Binor Lestari waste bank and become a unit waste bank on an advanced and modern regional scale.
