Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

ALINIER: Journal of Artificial Intelligence & Applications is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and integrity throughout the publication process. This publication ethics policy applies to all parties involved in the publication of the journal, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

ALINIER is committed to the principles of integrity, transparency, fairness, confidentiality, originality, and accountability in scholarly publishing. All parties involved in the publication process are expected to uphold these principles and to act professionally and objectively.

The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate citation manipulation, authorship misconduct, or other forms of research and publication misconduct.

ALINIER follows applicable national regulations and recognized principles of publication ethics and scholarly publishing.

1. Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for maintaining the academic quality, integrity, and overall direction of the journal. The Editor-in-Chief shall:

1. Ensure that the journal's aims, scope, editorial policies, and publication schedule are clearly defined and maintained.
2. Ensure that manuscripts are handled fairly, objectively, and according to the journal's editorial policies.
3. Ensure that editorial decisions are based on the scientific quality, relevance, originality, and contribution of the manuscript.
4. Maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and related information.
5. Ensure that conflicts of interest are appropriately identified and managed.
6. Ensure that authorship, copyright, intellectual property, and other publication-related matters are handled according to applicable policies.
7. Ensure that allegations of plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, and other forms of misconduct are appropriately investigated.
8. Ensure that corrections, retractions, or other post-publication actions are issued when necessary.
9. Ensure the continuity and regular publication of the journal.
10. Continuously work to improve the quality and integrity of the journal.

2. Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for managing manuscripts fairly, objectively, and professionally. Editors shall:

1. Evaluate manuscripts based on their academic quality, relevance, originality, and compliance with the journal's scope and author guidelines.
2. Ensure that editorial decisions are not influenced by the author's gender, ethnicity, religion, nationality, institutional affiliation, political views, or other irrelevant personal characteristics.
3. Maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and information obtained during the editorial process.
4. Ensure that manuscripts are handled according to the journal's peer-review and editorial procedures.
5. Identify and appropriately manage potential conflicts of interest.
6. Provide authors with constructive and professional editorial feedback where appropriate.
7. Facilitate corrections, clarifications, retractions, or other post-publication actions when necessary.
8. Respond appropriately to complaints and allegations of publication misconduct.
9. Support authors in improving manuscripts while maintaining editorial independence and objectivity.
10. Ensure that the final published article follows the journal's formatting, style, and layout requirements.
11. Respect the confidentiality of authors, reviewers, and editorial communications.
12. Ensure that editorial decisions are not based on personal preference or the promotion of a particular author's opinion.

3. Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are responsible for providing objective, constructive, and confidential evaluations of submitted manuscripts. Reviewers shall:

1. Provide an objective and unbiased assessment of the scientific quality, originality, relevance, and contribution of the manuscript.
2. Evaluate whether the manuscript is relevant to the journal's scope.
3. Provide clear, constructive, and evidence-based comments that can help authors improve their manuscript.
4. Avoid personal criticism of the authors.
5. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the manuscript and all information obtained during the review process.
6. Disclose any potential conflict of interest and decline the review when a conflict could affect objectivity.
7. Notify the editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or other forms of publication misconduct.
8. Complete the review within the agreed timeframe or inform the editor if an extension is required.
9. Not use generative AI or other AI tools to process, analyze, summarize, or disclose confidential manuscript content or review materials.
10. Not use information obtained during peer review for personal advantage or any other purpose unrelated to the review process.

4. Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality, accuracy, integrity, and ethical conduct of their research and manuscript. Authors shall:

1. Submit only original work that has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal.
2. Ensure that all data, results, and information reported in the manuscript are accurate and honestly presented.
3. Properly acknowledge and cite the sources used in the manuscript.
4. Avoid plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, and inappropriate citation manipulation.
5. Ensure that all individuals listed as authors have made meaningful contributions to the research and/or preparation of the manuscript.
6. Provide an Author Contribution Statement describing the contribution of each author.
7. Disclose relevant Funding and Conflict of Interest information.
8. Provide an Ethical Approval/Ethical Clearance Statement when required.
9. Disclose the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation when applicable.
10. Ensure that AI tools are not listed as authors.
11. Respond appropriately to editorial and reviewer comments and cooperate with requests for clarification, correction, or additional information.
12. Notify the editor promptly if a significant error is discovered in a published article and cooperate in issuing a correction or other appropriate post-publication action.

5. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

ALINIER recognizes the use of artificial intelligence and AI-assisted technologies in scholarly publishing. The use of AI must be transparent and must not compromise research integrity, originality, confidentiality, or accountability.

Authors

Authors must disclose the use of AI or AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of their manuscripts, including the tool used and its purpose or role in manuscript preparation.

AI tools must not be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and content of the manuscript, including any content produced or assisted by AI tools.

Editors

Editors may use AI-assisted tools only when appropriate and in a manner that preserves confidentiality, editorial independence, and human responsibility for editorial decisions.

Reviewers

Reviewers must not upload, disclose, or process confidential manuscript content or review materials using AI tools. Reviewers remain responsible for maintaining confidentiality and the integrity of the peer-review process.

6. Conflict of Interest

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial, personal, institutional, professional, or other interests that could influence or be perceived to influence the research, editorial decision, or review process.

Editors and reviewers who have a potential conflict of interest with a manuscript should not participate in the editorial or review process.

Authors must provide a Conflict of Interest Statement in the manuscript. If no conflict exists, authors should explicitly state that there is no conflict of interest related to the research or its publication.

7. Ethical Approval

Research involving human participants, animals, personal data, or other research subjects requiring ethical consideration must comply with applicable ethical standards and obtain approval from the relevant ethics committee when required.

Where applicable, authors must provide the name of the approving institution or ethics committee and the approval number in the manuscript.

For research that does not require ethical approval, authors should provide an appropriate statement explaining why ethical approval is not applicable.

8. Originality, Plagiarism, and Research Misconduct

Manuscripts submitted to ALINIER must be original and must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal.

ALINIER does not tolerate:

• plagiarism;
• fabrication of data or results;
• falsification or manipulation of data;
• duplicate or redundant publication;
• inappropriate citation manipulation;
• authorship misconduct; or
• other forms of research and publication misconduct.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality, accuracy, and integrity of their manuscripts.

When an allegation of misconduct is received, the journal may conduct an appropriate investigation and take action according to the nature and severity of the issue.

9. Corrections, Retractions, and Post-Publication Issues

ALINIER is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the published scholarly record.

Authors are expected to notify the Editor-in-Chief promptly if they discover a significant error in their published article.

The journal may publish corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, or other appropriate post-publication notices when errors or misconduct are identified after publication.

Editorial decisions regarding corrections or retractions will be made objectively and based on the available evidence.

10. Copyright and Intellectual Property

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts and all accompanying materials comply with applicable copyright and intellectual property regulations.

Authors must obtain appropriate permission when copyrighted materials belonging to third parties are reproduced or adapted in the manuscript.

Copyright and licensing arrangements for published articles are governed by the journal's applicable copyright and licensing policy.
