Abstract

Problems in the field of land transportation are difficult to solve, the problem that often occurs is traffic jams. This problem arises due to the growth of transportation facilities which is much faster than the growth of road infrastructure. Disruption to traffic flow will cause prolonged congestion, for example at intersections that have heavy traffic flow so that problems occur in transportation which result in congestion. In this research, the location chosen as the study location is at the intersection. Raya Langsep – Jl.I.R Rais – Jl.Jupri and Jl. Mergan lorry. The selection of this location is because at certain hours there are often long queues so it is possible to do research.The results of the research using the 2014 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI) Method. Based on the results of calculations in the field, it can be seen that the capacity of the Simpang, Jalan Raya Langsep - Jl.I.R Rais - Jl.Jupri and Jl. Mergan lorry. Malang City In the north approach the degree of saturation (DS) = 1.25, the east approach the degree of saturation (DS) = 0.52, in the south approach the degree of saturation (DS) = 0.52. From the calculation results, it is known that the capacity of the intersection accommodates traffic flow, with a value of Degree of Saturation (DS) = 1.04. This indicates that the intersection, Jalan Raya Langsep - Jl.I.R Rais - Jl.Jupri and Jl. Mergan lorries, approaching oversaturation, which will cause long queues in peak traffic conditions. After analyzing the calculation using the reference to the 2014 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines and Vissim 11, then to make improvements to the intersection with a geometric widening of 3 meters each on the north, east, west approach. The performance of this intersection with road widening obtained a maximum queue length of 45.22 m, and a maximum degree of saturation of 0.77 0.85, or meets the requirements with service level B. So with this road widening, the intersection is expected to be able to serve traffic flow well
