Abstract

Retaining walls are one of the most important soil control techniques to prevent landslides. As happened on the Soekarno - Hatta Kilometer 48 Samarinda - Balikpapan road. Conditions have slopes indicated by landslides. This avalanche occurred along the 30-meter road, causing a landslide so that half of the main road. Based on field and laboratory test data, it was found that most of the soil is clay which is very slow in absorbing water and unstable soil conditions due to the presence of groundwater. Dimensional calculations, stability control, reinforcement of retaining walls are very important in the design of retaining walls. The purpose of this study is to design a retaining wall at the site using a cantilever type retaining wall. The calculation results show that the cantilever type retaining wall with dimensions H = 4m, B = 3.2m, D = 0.4m, h1, = 3.6m, h2 = 2m, b1 = 0.93m, b2=0.18m, b3 = 0.28m, b4 = 0.3m, b5 = 1.29m, the retaining wall is declared safe against shear FS = 1.96, FS rolls = 1.80, FSDDT = 4.54. From this calculation, it is obtained reinforcement for D19 – 150 with reinforcement for D13 – 75 for vertical walls and D19 – 250 with reinforcement for D13 – 200.
