Abstrak

Malang city is the second largest city in East Java after Surabaya. Malang city is known as an education city, an industrial city. the population in the last 5 years Malang City reached 874,890 people (Central Bureau of Statistics Malang City 2020). This causes population density and also increases the flow of transportation, this condition certainly has a significant effect on the high activity of transportation flows and has the potential to cause congestion. To improve the performance of the intersection, it is necessary to analyze and evaluate the performance at the intersection of  Gatot Subroto street –Panglima Sudirman street – Trunojoyo street – Untung Suropati Selatan street so that an alternative is obtained for the intersection problem. The analysis and evaluation is based on the 2014 PKJI. The processed data is obtained from the survey results on March 29, 2021 – April 3, 2021. The performance of the existing intersection based on the evaluation using the 2014 PKJI method, the degree of saturation of the intersection is 1.15 (over 0.85), the probability the queue reached 107.39%, and the delay was 72.83 sec/skr, with the service level F. Based on the analysis for problem solving with several alternative solutions, alternative 4 was chosen for the Simpang Empat problem, Gatot Subroto street –Panglima Sudirman street –  Trunojoyo street  - Untung Suropati Selatan street is to use traffic signal lights with 2 phases without doing geometric widening. This alternative gets a degree of saturation of 0.74 (less than 0.85), the maximum queue length is 78.87 m.
